_ALL Judges, be aware of how many judges are supposed to be in your room each round. They should clarify to you in the judges meeting and it should state on your SpeechWire page. Please do not begin the round until all judges have arrived.
_ALL Judges, if you in a judge pool for that day and happen to get a round off, you CANNOT spectate / observe a round under any circumstances. Remain in the judges lounge in case you are needed to replace an absent judge.
_SPEECH Judges, critiques are optional at this tournament. Please submit your ranks as soon as possible to allow the tournament to flow smoothly. With that, also be sure to take enough time to assure yourself that you are giving each student the proper rank.
_DEBATE Judges, critiques are optional in LD/PF, but you do still need to write a Reason For Decision in the proper format, clarifying why you chose the result of the round that way. This is meant as a check to match your decisions with your statement.
_CONGRESS Judges, while critiques are optional, you do still need to "add a speech" and score the speech for each one given by the student. Speech scores are 6 being excellent, then down to 5, 4, and 3 should be the speeches that need more improvement.
_CONGRESS Judges, be aware of how many students you are supposed to rank at the end of the round. Either a staff member or a parliamentarian will clarify how many you rank (whether that be top 8 or top 12).
_ALL Judges, please be patient with this tournament. This is a very large event with many pieces moving around at once in order to make happen. It is very likely that things go off schedule during the day. So please be aware that the tournament staff will communicate information about postings when they are aware and it is time to share with judges. Please refrain from asking staff members "when will the next round be posted?".

Additional Notes
- Students,
_All competitors are to be present the entirety of the tournament, including the Opening Ceremony, and Awards Ceremony. It is a great honor and privilege to have the opportunity to compete at the State Tournament, so please take these events seriously.
***
_Below are my expectations for the Opening and Awards ceremony:
-Everyone must be awake and attentive from start to finish.
-No phones or electronics are to be used during the event.
-No chit-chatting or discussions are to be taken place.
-Use the restroom before the ceremony, so that you don't get up and cause disruption during it.
-Reactions and claps should be respectful and appropriate for what is taking place. If there is a standing ovation, you stand as well.
-No Woos, hooting, or hollering! We are not a "WOO" Team.
***
_Concessions will be offered at all competition venues. No outside food is permitted.
_Be sure to arrive on time for morning check ins, and to your rooms for the start of your rounds.
_If you do not advance to an elimination round, you should be watching a round. Follow schematics on SpeechWire to learn what room each event is taking place in.
***OBSERVERS, please follow the protocols below if attending:
-Use the information found in the Room Location Section above to determine which building you should report to based on the event you wish to observe and based on the time in the competition we are in.
-Upon arrival at the venue you must obtain your observer ribbon/sticker at the registration table. Any individual present at the event must have some sort of ribbon identification. This is very important.
-Use Schematics in SpeechWire to follow postings, and where/when the round you wish to watch will be taking place. Remember, the round "Start Time" that SpeechWire lists with the schematics are NOT reliable. The times are preinstalled in the database to reflect the tentative schedule, but it's always possible that things go off schedule. THEREFORE, in order to assure no one is late, as soon as you see/hear a posting for the event, go to the room. It's better to be early, because if you are late, you do not enter the round.
-If you wish to observe someone on our team, you must ask for their permission first and respect their decision. We do not want any of our competitors losing focus in their round.
-Remember that you are representing our team and our school whether you are a competitor, judge, or observer. Be respectful, attentive, and do not cause distractions or disruptions during the round you watch. No phones or electronics out. No videoing, recording, or note taking (digital or handwritten) of any kind.
-You are expected to be present for its entirety. If you are spectating Congress, you may leave the round when they break for recess, but any other event you stay from start to finish. Plan your restroom breaks accordingly.
-Remember that you do not enter a round late. If you get to the door and it's clear that the round has begun already, sorry, you don't get to watch that round. Return to the common's area and wait for the next round to be posted. Do not interrupt any rounds under any circumstances.
