What is Program Oral Interpretation?
Poi, or Program Oral Interpretation is a newer category to the speech and debate world. It’s a combination of prose, which is books, plays, and other pieces of that nature, and poetry, which is pretty self-explanatory. You are allowed to have a binder while you’re speaking, which holds your speech and can also be used as a prop. Your speech is typically centered around an overall theme and book that you choose, as well as whatever else you would want to put in your speech. The goal it to keep it all centralized around your overall theme.
