Notes for Judges
Please check in at the venue no later than 8:00AM.
_If you are judging Debate or Congress, you will report to Austintown Middle School. Speech judges will report to the High School Building.
_Judges are NOT permitted to watch rounds, if they do not get chosen to judge one. Please continue to remain in the judges lounge until a staff member dismisses you.
_SPEECH JUDGES, remember to take attendance when you get to the room. When everyone has arrived (exception- double entries and Extemp), you can close the door and begin the round. When it is time for the student to speak, you call each speaker in the order listed on your SpeechWire ballot by either their name or Speaker Code, which ever is easier.
_SPEECH JUDGES, remember to type your critiques as the speech is being delivered. If you need to take a minute in between each speaker to complete your thoughts, that's fine. The next speaker will not go up until you call them.
_DEBATE and SPEECH JUDGES, remember there are no oral critiques permitted at a tournament. To avoid issues, I recommend not verbally saying anything about the speech after the speaker presents. Just keep it all in the ballot. Debate, do not announce who the winner is after they complete the round. Keep it in the ballot. You should not be conversing with the students after the round either.
