Notes for Judges

_This tournament will offer Semi and Final rounds. Semi final rounds will have a group of judges in the room just like Finals. Please do not start the round until all judges have arrived.

_This tournament is known for posting the next rounds on SpeechWire while the current round is still taking place. Do not worry if this happens and don't feel like you need to rush over to your next room. This is simply a method used to keep the tournament moving swiftly and to prevent students from dragging their feet in between rounds.

_With the previous note above in mind, try to be lenient with students who arrive to the room a little later than others. It is possible that their previous round ran a little behind. Also remember to keep in mind double entries.

Additional Notes

_Middle School competition will take place on Friday, January 16. The MS team will depart from Poland High School at 3:00pm. I recommend bringing your competition clothes and gear with you to school in the morning. Give your stuff to me in the library before 1st period and I will keep it in my office.

_After school gets dismissed, MS will stay after, change into competition clothes, get warmed up, and prepare for the bus.

_After competition concludes on Friday, the MS team will return back to Poland that evening, around 10:30pm (tentative).

_There is NO HS competition taking place on Friday. Only Saturday.

_There is NO MS competition taking place on Saturday. Only Friday.

_The High School team will depart at 6:30AM on Saturday. This is a very big school. I highly recommend utilizing the maps attached and walk around the building to familiarize yourself with the building when we get there, before rounds start. I don't want you stressing about being late.

_On that note, Wooster is known for posting for the next round while the current round is still taking place. DO NOT PANIC! (I say in all caps). You are not going to be late to your next round. You do not have rush to your next room. This is simply a system they use to keep the tournament moving and prevent kids from lingering between rounds. While you do not have to rush, you should still go to your next room as soon as possible so that you don't hold up the start of the round.

_Remember, there will be Semi Finals and Finals in HS Speech events. They should allow spectators in both break rounds. If you are not competing in those rounds, you should be watching a round. Both the Semi and the Final do not have to be your event, if you wanted to watch something else. You decide, but you need to be watching something, not just sitting around.
